Description

The Lefa mine is located 700km north east of Conakry in Guinea. It was purchased by Severstal’s gold business in 2010 from Crew Gold. This business became Nordgold in 2012. The Lefa open pit mine has trebled in production since it was purchased and is Nordgold’s largest mine, as well as being one of the largest gold mines in Guinea. Ore Search has been operating successfully at Lefa since 2005, through the change of ownership, and has grown the scale of its operation with the mine’s growth, providing grade control and exploration drilling, and from time to time other specialised services.

Critical Success Factors:

  • Safety with productivity
  • Adaptability to changing needs within the mining operation
  • Long term partnership approach.
